T Minus 10 and Counting...

Just a shade under 10 weeks to go!! Here's an updated picture. We made the mistake of telling Biscuit we'd take him to the dog park, but detoured into the backyard for a quick picture. When you tell Biscuit it's time to go to the park, he freaks. Runs in circles, barks...typical can't control himself dog stuff. But in the midst of his freak-out session, he decided he'd get in the picture too. He ran to Elizabeth, sat down, I took the picture and he then resumed his freak-out. He never misses a photo op.

Here's to hoping these last 9 and a half weeks go quickly and smoothly!

We're Getting There

The nursery is taking shape. We've recently hung some letters over the crib. It only took 18 tries per letter to get them level and evenly spaced. Perhaps a few more arguments too. If anyone wants a Christmas idea, a wall mounted laser level may not be a bad idea. Anyway, after I put 47 holes in the freshly painted walls, I somehow managed to get nail grease/dirt, etc all over Elizabeth's hand painted letters. That went over pretty well. To Elizabeth's credit, she's been an extremely easy-going pregnant girl up until the letter incident.
The probability of the letters falling on Harper was certainly greater than one would hope, so knowing my superior handy-man skills, I was removed from letter duty and Elizabeth re-hung the letters on ribbon in about 5 minutes.

Back to the Beach

The Gilchrist family was able to get together for a few days at the beach in celebration of Father's Day. We had a great time and it was the first time everyone has been together since the very, very beginning of Elizabeth's pregnancy. Next time we're all together, there's sure to be screaming, crying and dirty diapers...and Harper will be there too!

One Thing Leads to Another

The Ponders visited for the weekend. Elizabeth and Erika went shopping for maternity clothes.

The bank called. The result of said shopping trip drove Hunter and I to drinking.

Reality Check

We took the hospital tour over the weekend. Nothing too exciting so all in all, it was fine.

Oh wait. I must be confusing it with something else. It was, in a word, terrifying. If sheer panic and an overwhelming urge to vomit equal "fine," then sure, it was fine. I'm exaggerating...it wasn't THAT bad. After all, we did receive a nice parting gift - a beautifully wrapped box full of REALITY complete with instructions to open immediately. And who doesn't love that?

We did experience an amusing, albeit slightly uncomfortable, situation while on the tour. One of the soon to be dads asked our chipper instructor if he would be allowed to deliver his own baby.

"I've delivered a few babies and I think it would be great to be able to deliver my own," said the man who wants to be one with Mother Earth. Color me curious, but whose kids did this guy deliver? We didn't ask. I particularly enjoyed his descriptive hand gestures. How on earth would we have known what Captain Hippie was referring to without those hand gestures? I, for one, was thankful. Anyway, the look on our tour guide's face was priceless. She was a tad stumped, but quick to tell him to ask his doctor.

I'm all for being an involved parent, but the Women's Center at Northside Hospital has as much technology as NORAD and enough nurses to fill the Georgia Dome. Let them handle it. If you want to visit a primitive tribal village in the jungle and communicate with hand gestures and clicks, more power to you. Just don't forget the tofu.

"...and my rims keep spinning everytime I stop..."

It's difficult for a preppy, suburban, white kid to say (much less write) the title of this post with any street cred, but I tried my best. We did live in Crestwood after all. Anyway, Harper now has some sweet wheels thanks to Dad and Gail - sweet in a stylish, big-box retail designer kind of way.

See Ya Feet

6 months pregnant and the feet have disappeared. Elizabeth thought it would be funny to take a picture. I thought it'd be funnier to put the picture on the internet. It probably won't be as funny when she sees this....
Hope her shoes match.
